		<abstract>The process of urbanization without proper planning brings with it disturbances from the physical andhydrological point of view of the river basins. The changes in land use, especially with the increase of theimpermeable area due to the disordered urbanization process, is a factor that directly interferes with theinfiltration and surface runoff of the hydrographic basins. The present article aimed to use geoprocessingtechniques to analyze the influence of urbanization on the surface runoff of the Rio das Pedras river basin. Forthis, aerial images of two different periods with a space of 34 years were compared and the use and occupationof the soil in the two periods was evaluated through ArcGis 10.2.2 software. Also with this tool, all the physicalcharacteristics of the basin were extracted, as well as, its entire drainage network, to acquire the necessaryparameters for the calculation of the runoff surface of the study basin. The results of the analyzes of theevolution of urbanization in the periods of 1976 and 2010, as well as the calculations of the surface runoff, showthat the reduction of vegetation and the consequent increase of urbanization reduce the capacity of infiltration ofthe basin, increasing the surface runoff causing Negative impacts on the urban drainage of the Rio das Pedrasriver basin.</abstract>
